Capital Crossroads, the regional visioning process, will unveil its 2.0 version on Feb. 1 after nine months of surveys, a regional assessment, interviews, fact-finding trips, meetings, town halls and focus groups. The report will be released during a session from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. The framework for the region’s future will include the program’s 10 strategic “capitals” and will update the original goals and initiatives developed by a 62-member steering committee. The work was funded by the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Prairie Meadows, and United Way of Central Iowa.
