Several organizations have stepped up to support federal workers impacted by the partial government shutdown.

United Way of Central Iowa and DMARC just announced Feeding Our Federal Workers initiative that will provide food to workers on Monday, January 28 and Tuesday, January 29. Visit the Feeding Our Federal Workers page to see how you or your business can get involved with the effort by volunteering or donating.

Federal workers impacted by the partial government shutdown experiencing need can call 2-1-1, visit the 211 website  or text your ZIP code to 898211 to be connected with local support and resources including utility assistance, food pantries, rent assistance, health and mental health resources and more.

While a temporary deal to reopen the federal government has been struck, resumption of pay schedules has yet to be determined. During that time, Capital Crossroads will update community efforts on this page. If you are aware of other community efforts in the Central Iowa region please contact us.
