The Social Capital developed the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) to elevate, connect, leverage, and amplify the efforts of community- and curriculum-based leadership programs in the Capital Crossroads region.

The group has been charged with continuing to share information on programs and opportunities for collaboration, coordination, and development of new shared efforts; developing a web platform to serve as a matching tool between Central Iowa organizations and stakeholders interested in serving in leadership roles; applying to host a conference for the Association of Leadership Programs in Des Moines in 2016; launching an annual educational event for the RLC program participants; and, determining a local or regional entity to commit to long-term management of the RLC.

The RLC hosted the second annual Converge Conference in the fall. At this event, Dr. Matt Davidson presented on intentional leadership through integrity and civility. The session was held in collaboration with the Ray Center at Drake University, and seven sponsors joined the RLC in the event.

Earlier this year, the group was selected to host the Association of Leadership Programs conference in Des Moines in June 2016; planning efforts are underway. This fall, the LeadershipLink portal launched through the United Way as a platform to provide a way for nonprofit organizations to post leadership roles to those seeking opportunities to serve.
