Greater Des Moines will host the Association of Leadership Programs Midwest Regional Conference on June 16 and 17. The host organizations, the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute and Regional Leadership Council of Central Iowa, will welcome staff and board members from community leadership organizations in more than thirteen states to Greater Des Moines. The Regional Leadership Council of Central Iowa is a collaboration of eighteen community leadership programs and was borne out of Capital Crossroadsâ Social Capital.
“We are thrilled to host the Midwest Conference, themed âIgnite Leadership: Developing Skills that Spark Community Change,'” says Amy Jennings, executive director of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute and Association of Leadership Programs Midwest Conference chair. “This is an amazing opportunity to showcase the successes of Central Iowa and to learn from individuals who champion community leadership development in other Midwest cities.”
The Association of Leadership Programs Midwest Conference will feature workshops and discussions that facilitate sharing best practices, fostering innovation, and engaging in learning. The June 16 pre-conference workshop, âCivility and Community,â will feature Scott Raecker, director of The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University. Sessions during the main conference on June 17 will highlight topics such as alumni engagement, diversity, class projects, innovation, and measuring success.
Gallup researcher Shane Lopez, Ph.D., will provide the luncheon keynote address, titled âLead with Hope.â Registrations for the luncheon and keynote address, sponsored by Kum & Go, are being accepted at gdmli.com. Registrations for the pre-conference workshop and the full-day conference are being accepted at alpleaders.org.
